Only the leather needle 130/705 H LL is offered for leather in the specialized trade for household sewing machines. The designation LL means leather left and refers to the left orientation of the lenticular cutting tip. But if you want to have the seam pattern exactly the other way around, you need this needle with the LR tip. You guessed it, LR means leather right. The resulting seam pattern is opposite the LL tip exactly mirror image.

Cutting tips allow easier penetration into leather, imitation leather and foils and must not be used under any circumstances for sewing woven and knitted fabrics.

Important to know:
This needle is no longer produced! We therefore strongly recommend that you accumulate a sufficiently large stock.

COATING	NICKEL or CHROME PLATED The nickel-plated needle will be the standard for household sewing machines until the end of 2020. After that, Schmetz will slowly convert production to "chrome-plated", as has been the standard for industrial needles for decades.

MATERIAL TYPE	LEATHER, TARPS & FOILS Leather, imitation leather, tarps and foils are closed textiles that have to be ""pierced"" for sewing. This is why needles with cutting tips are usually used for this. Cutting tips penetrate the material much more easily than displacement tips and thus counteract resistance and heating. Cutting points should never be used on woven and knitted fabrics, otherwise the threads can be cut, causing holes.
