The twin embroidery needle - like the embroidery needle - was specially developed for embroidery threads that are significantly more sensitive than normal sewing threads. Thanks to the needle's wider eye and wider thread groove, the thread runs smoothly in all directions without breaking when embroidering decorative stitches. This needle is also ideal for thicker threads.
Thanks to its central ball points, the needle is particularly gentle on the material. This prevents damage to the embroidery thread and the sewing material.
The twin embroidery needle is suitable for all standard household sewing machines with zigzag function.
Before sewing
The twin embroidery needle is inserted into the needle bar like other household needles: The flat plunger side faces away from you towards the back. The needle plate and presser foot must have a sufficiently large recess for the needle spacing and the selected stitch width.
Threading
A separate spool of thread is required for each of the two needles. If you do not have a second thread holder, use a spool for the second thread and place it underneath the spool with the first thread on the spool holder. Make sure that the spool and thread reel are unwound in the same direction. You can use the same thread color for both needles or - for decorative effects - different colors.
Guide the two needle threads together through the guide elements of your machine as if they were one thread. Then separate the threads and pass one thread through each needle eye. Some machines have special separation options. In this case, please follow the instructions for use of your machine for threading.
Please note:
The automatic needle threader does not work with twin needles!
Tips
Switch on the twin mode or a corresponding button on your sewing machine (if available) to limit the stitch width. This prevents the needle from accidentally hitting the stitch plate and breaking.
Test the thread tension in advance with a few sample seams. Use scraps of fabric, for example. Adjust the thread tension so that the bobbin thread zigzags slightly in the seam.
Sew a little slower on thick seams to avoid needle breakage.
Do not push or pull the fabric while sewing. This can lead to an uneven stitch length and, in the worst case, to needle breakage.
To achieve a beautiful, smooth seam, you can use spray starch before sewing or use a water-soluble stabilizer when sewing.
