The felting needle is a special needle for decorative felting work without sewing thread.
The outstanding feature of the felting needle is its triangular working part, which has notches. These barbs transport material fibers during the needle penetration and thus bind wool fleece, wool threads or other suitable materials into a carrier material in a sophisticated way.
The felting needle has a round plunger with a diameter of 1.2 mm, while the standard plunger for household sewing machine needles has a diameter of 2.04 mm. As felting needles do not have an eye, they are not suitable for normal sewing with sewing thread.
Wool or felt-like fabrics are best suited as a felting base. Experiment with different materials and create decorations and fascinating looks.
