Sometimes it is not easy to thread the thread into the eye of the needle. The eye slit needle makes this easier. This needle has a small slit on the side of the needle eye through which the thread simply slides into the eye. To do this, slide the needle thread loop along the right side of the needle until it slides through the slit into the eye.
This means that the sewing machine is quickly ready for use when small alterations or repairs are to be carried out, such as shortening pants or re-sewing a torn seam.

The eye slit needle is also particularly suitable for people with motor disabilities or visual impairments. This needle is used in particular by blind people and is therefore becoming increasingly popular with organizations for the blind.

The slightly rounded point of the needle ensures that many materials can be sewn gently and easily without damaging them.

Tip
- Do not use the eye slit needle when working with fine, thin fabrics such as silk, as these will catch in the slit.
- The eyelet slit needles are not suitable for sewing machines with oscillating hooks (CB hooks), as the thread can slide out of the slit due to the special movement pattern of these hooks!
