The needle of system 14 SP has a square point for working firm, dense materials. It is used in industrial chainstitch and general-purpose sewing machines, here mainly for technical applications such as the packaging industry rather than classic garment production. In size NM:140/SIZE:22, this version is especially well suited to firm, dense materials in the packaging industry. A sewing thread in the range Nm 40/2 to Nm 20/2 is usually suitable, e.g. from Amann Serafil (polyester) or Rasant (polyester/cotton); for heavy-duty use, a bonded nylon thread. A cutting point is required here to create clean puncture channels in firm materials.Package contents: pack BR10 with 10 needles
CANU is the abbreviation for "Catalog Number" and represents the system developed by the German needle manufacturer SCHMETZ and used worldwide today for the summary and identification of the same sewing machine needles, which have various designations specific to the sewing machine manufacturer (needle systems).
Needles with a normal chrome coating can be recognized by their shiny silver surface. The chrome coating provides protection against wear and corrosion. The surface is smooth and protects the material and the thread. Chrome needles can be used for all standard applications. Compared to nickel-plated needles, chrome-plated needles improve the service life of the needle at higher stitch counts. At Groz-Beckert, the equivalent chrome coating is being gradually replaced by their more environmentally friendly "dur" process.
