The 149X1 BLUK needle (needle system 149X1) has a normal round point for working woven and knit fabrics. It is used in industrial chainstitch and general-purpose sewing machines for everyday garment and textile manufacturing. Suitable machine classes are found, among others, at Singer (classes 231, 261, 410, 231-25), Brother (classes DT2, DT6, DT2 - B 959, DT2 - B 962) and Juki (classes LZ, MS, LZ - 405, LZ - 407).
In size NM:110/SIZE:18, this version is especially well suited to heavy, multi-layer woven and knit fabrics as well as technical textiles. A sewing thread in the range Nm 50/2 to Nm 40/2 is usually suitable, e.g. from Amann Serafil (polyester) or Rasant (polyester/cotton).
This version has a BLUKOLD coating: a roughened, phosphated surface with a subsequent Teflon coating, on which melt residue settles much later than on chrome-plated needles. It is especially suited to synthetic materials and materials with a high synthetic-fibre content.
