The 190 D needle (needle system 190) has a triangular point for working leather, synthetic leather and other coated materials – never for woven fabric, since the cutting action would sever the weave threads. It is used in industrial sewing machines for leather and synthetic-leather work, where the cutting point produces a clean puncture. Suitable machine classes are found, among others, at Pfaff (classes 28, 143, 190, 343), Dürkopp Adler (classes 067, 068, 211, 247) and Juki (classes APW, DLN, LH, LS).
In size NM:140/SIZE:22, this version is especially well suited to medium-weight leather for everyday leather goods and saddlery work. A sewing thread in the range Nm 40/2 to Nm 20/2 is usually suitable; a bonded polyester or nylon thread such as Amann Serabond, Amann Strongbond or Coats Dabond is recommended. A cutting point is required here to create clean puncture channels in firm materials.
