The 265-5 SES needle (needle system 265-5) has a small ball point for working knit fabrics, without damaging the loops. It is used in industrial lockstitch and general-purpose sewing machines for everyday garment and textile manufacturing. Suitable machine classes are found, among others, at Dürkopp Adler (classes 265, 266, 267, 268) and Fritz Gegauf (classes 217). In size NM:70/SIZE:10, this version is especially well suited to fine, light jersey and tricot fabrics. A sewing thread in the range Nm 80/2 to Nm 50/2 is usually suitable, e.g. from Amann Serafil or Rasant; for very stretchy seams, a texturised thread also works well. Needles with a normal chrome coating can be recognized by their shiny silver surface. The chrome coating provides protection against wear and corrosion. The surface is smooth and protects the material and the thread. Chrome needles can be used for all standard applications. Compared to nickel-plated needles, chrome-plated needles improve the service life of the needle at higher stitch counts. At Groz-Beckert, the equivalent chrome coating is being gradually replaced by their more environmentally friendly "dur" process.
