The needle of system 4463 KK has a normal round point for working woven and knit fabrics. The KK version has a short shank. It is used in industrial chainstitch and general-purpose sewing machines. Suitable machine classes are found, among others, at Pfaff (classes 3517, 3519, 3520, 3538), Willcox (classes 5463, 5467, 5463 ALL CLASSES, 5467 - 801) and Golden Wheel (classes CS-5940, CS-5940M, CS-5941). In size NM:120/SIZE:19, this version is especially well suited to heavy, multi-layer woven and knit fabrics as well as technical textiles. A sewing thread in the range Nm 50/2 to Nm 40/2 is usually suitable, e.g. from Amann Serafil (polyester) or Rasant (polyester/cotton).Package contents: pack B10 with 10 needles
CANU is the abbreviation for "Catalog Number" and represents the system developed by the German needle manufacturer SCHMETZ and used worldwide today for the summary and identification of the same sewing machine needles, which have various designations specific to the sewing machine manufacturer (needle systems).
Tip with a pointed conical bevel. The normal round tip is the standard tip shape. With household needles this tip shape is used for the needles known as universal needles most of the time no top suffix «R» is used. Applications: - Lightweight fabric - Coated materials; heavy woven materials such as Tarpaulins - Laminated materials with soft plastic or thin cardboard (cardboard) - Foils - Leather/Textile combinations
Needles with a normal chrome coating can be recognized by their shiny silver surface. The chrome coating provides protection against wear and corrosion. The surface is smooth and protects the material and the thread. Chrome needles can be used for all standard applications. Compared to nickel-plated needles, chrome-plated needles improve the service life of the needle at higher stitch counts. At Groz-Beckert, the equivalent chrome coating is being gradually replaced by their more environmentally friendly "dur" process.
Short Piston The shorter piston of the KK variant is used in industrial sewing machines (often overlock, coverstitch, or specialized leather and buttonhole machines) where space on the needle bar is very limited. The shortened piston end allows for additional fabric thickness during the stroke in some machine classes. Since the distance from the piston end to the needle eye is identical in both variants, a 134 KK can be used in many standard machines instead of a regular 134. However, it usually doesn’t work the other way around!
