The 459 LG SD1 needle (needle system 459 LG) has a round point with small triangular cutting edge for working leather, synthetic leather and other coated materials – never for woven fabric, since the cutting action would sever the weave threads. This needle system belongs to the fur and glove sewing machine needles and is specialised for processing furs, pelts, leather and glove materials. It is used in industrial sewing machines for leather and synthetic-leather work, where the cutting point produces a clean puncture. In size NM:140/SIZE:22, this version is especially well suited to medium-weight leather for everyday leather goods and saddlery work. A sewing thread in the range Nm 40/2 to Nm 20/2 is usually suitable; a bonded polyester or nylon thread such as Amann Serabond, Amann Strongbond or Coats Dabond is recommended. A cutting point is required here to create clean puncture channels in firm materials.Package contents: pack B10 with 10 needles
CANU is the abbreviation for "Catalog Number" and represents the system developed by the German needle manufacturer SCHMETZ and used worldwide today for the summary and identification of the same sewing machine needles, which have various designations specific to the sewing machine manufacturer (needle systems).
Round tip with very small, triangular incision. The small triangular blade cuts approx. 10% of the needle hole, 90% are displaced by the conical round point (R point).Result: Straight seam, clean seam patternCorrect puncture position and less needle deflection than when using a round point (R point) and less incision than with a cutting point.Materials: - fine leather and imitation leather- thin, synthetic shaft materials- PVC/PUR-coated materials such as tarpaulins, tents, lacquered tablecloths, etc. Applications:- leather processing- plastics processing- hard fibers and foilsHighlight:Multidirectional sewing; sewing: With multidirectional sewing (sewing machines), the stitch position remains the same in all sewing directions.
Needles with a normal chrome coating can be recognized by their shiny silver surface. The chrome coating provides protection against wear and corrosion. The surface is smooth and protects the material and the thread. Chrome needles can be used for all standard applications. Compared to nickel-plated needles, chrome-plated needles improve the service life of the needle at higher stitch counts. At Groz-Beckert, the equivalent chrome coating is being gradually replaced by their more environmentally friendly "dur" process.
