The needle of system 108X1 has a large round point for sewing on buttons. It is specifically designed for industrial button-sewing machines. Suitable machine classes are found, among others, at Singer (classes 71, 114, 421, 114 OTHER CLASS), Brother (classes BQ1, CB3, BQ1 - B 911, CB3 - B 912) and Yajima (classes YS, YT, YS OTHER CLASS, YT - 7).
Thinner needle sizes are used, among others, for smaller buttons on light to medium-weight fabrics, and the thicker versions for medium-sized buttons on medium-weight jacket and coat fabrics. As sewing thread, a strong polyester thread, e.g. from the Amann Serafil range, is usually recommended, in a thickness matching the needle size chosen. The large, sturdy point reliably pierces both the fabric and the button's holes.
