CANU 32:10BX1 The needle of system 134-35 has a four-facet cutting point, right (45°) for working leather, synthetic leather and other coated materials – never for woven fabric, since the cutting action would sever the weave threads. It is used in industrial sewing machines for leather and synthetic-leather work, where the cutting point produces a clean puncture. Suitable machine classes are found, among others, at Dürkopp Adler (classes 067, 069, 098, 167), Pfaff (classes 34 BIS 1967, 34, 35, 36 bis 38) and Rimoldi (classes 229 ALL CLASSES, 421 OTHER CLASS, 530 ALL CLASSES, 840 - 104).

Thinner needle sizes are used, among others, for thinner to medium-weight leather, and the thicker versions for very thick, firm leather and multi-layer leather joins. As sewing thread, a bonded polyester or nylon thread such as Amann Saba or Coats Dabond is usually recommended, in a thickness matching the needle size chosen. A cutting point is required here to create clean puncture channels in firm materials.

COATING:	CHROME Needles with a normal chrome coating can be recognized by their shiny silver surface. The chrome coating provides protection against wear and corrosion. The surface is smooth and protects the material and the thread. Chrome needles can be used for all standard applications. Compared to nickel-plated needles, chrome-plated needles improve the service life of the needle at higher stitch counts. At Groz-Beckert, the equivalent chrome coating is being gradually replaced by their more environmentally friendly "dur" process.
