CANU 20:05YL1 The 134 PCL needle (needle system 134) has a pearl point for working leather, synthetic leather and other coated materials – never for woven fabric, since the cutting action would sever the weave threads. It is used in industrial sewing machines for leather and synthetic-leather work, where the cutting point produces a clean puncture. Suitable machine classes are found, among others, at Pfaff (classes 22, 28, 33905, 34), Juki (classes ACB, ACF, AEC, ALS) and Singer (classes 20, 61, 107, 108).

Thinner needle sizes are used, among others, for thinner to medium-weight leather, and the thicker versions for very thick, firm leather and multi-layer leather joins. As sewing thread, a bonded polyester or nylon thread such as Amann Serabond, Amann Strongbond or Coats Dabond is usually recommended, in a thickness matching the needle size chosen. A cutting point is required here to create clean puncture channels in firm materials.

SCHMETZ CANU:	CANU 20:05 CANU is the abbreviation for "Catalog Number" and represents the system developed by the German needle manufacturer SCHMETZ and used worldwide today for the summary and identification of the same sewing machine needles, which have various designations specific to the sewing machine manufacturer (needle systems).
NEEDLE FAMILY:	Sewing machine needles with cutting tips
NEEDLEPOINT:	P/PS/NW/PCL/PCR - pearl tip Wide Cutting point with a lenticular incision. The incision is made across the direction of the seam. Result: Seam with high strength Materials: Suitable for all types of leather Applications: - Shoe manufacture - Bags, suitcases, accessories Highlight: The SCHMETZ cordage ensures that the thread is laid out of the sewing material in the laterally tapering tip groove when the needle is lifted upwards, so that it is no longer pulled over the edge of the groove, eye edge or cutting edge and is not damaged . «CL»: Tip groove tapering to the left for hooks positioned to the right of the needle. «CR»: Point groove tapering to the right for hooks positioned to the left of the needle. It is used in particular as a left needle in a two-needle machine.
COATING:	CHROME Needles with a normal chrome coating can be recognized by their shiny silver surface. The chrome coating provides protection against wear and corrosion. The surface is smooth and protects the material and the thread. Chrome needles can be used for all standard applications. Compared to nickel-plated needles, chrome-plated needles improve the service life of the needle at higher stitch counts. At Groz-Beckert, the equivalent chrome coating is being gradually replaced by their more environmentally friendly "dur" process.
