The 135X17 FLG-E needle (needle system 135X17) has a normal round point for working woven and knit fabrics. In the SERV 6 version, it has a special scarf and a reinforced blade. It is used in industrial lockstitch and general-purpose sewing machines, here mainly for technical applications such as vehicle seating, vehicle interiors and the processing of textile floor coverings rather than classic garment production. Suitable machine classes are found, among others, at Juki (classes ACF, ALS, AMS, APW), Brother (classes BAS -300E, BAS -311A, BAS -311E, BAS -311EL) and Singer (classes 61, 107, 111, 112).
Thinner needle sizes are used, among others, for heavy, multi-layer woven and knit fabrics as well as technical textiles, and the thicker versions for very heavy, multi-layer materials such as webbing, tarpaulins and upholstery composites. As sewing thread, a matching thickness is usually recommended depending on the needle size chosen, e.g. from Amann Serafil (polyester) or Rasant (polyester/cotton); for heavy-duty use, a bonded nylon thread.
