The 135X17 SES TN needle (needle system 135X17) has a small ball point for working knit fabrics, without damaging the loops. It is used in industrial lockstitch and general-purpose sewing machines for everyday garment and textile manufacturing. Suitable machine classes are found, among others, at Juki (classes ACF, ALS, AMS, APW), Brother (classes BAS -300E, BAS -311A, BAS -311E, BAS -311EL) and Singer (classes 61, 107, 111, 112).
In size NM:80/SIZE:12, this version is especially well suited to medium-weight knit fabrics for everyday garment production. A sewing thread in the range Nm 80/2 to Nm 50/2 is usually suitable, e.g. from Amann Serafil or Rasant; for very stretchy seams, a texturised thread also works well. The ball point glides between the loops instead of piercing them, keeping the seam clean and undamaged.
This needle also features a titanium nitride (TN) coating: it improves the needle's service life at higher stitch counts and reduces needle smearing. At Groz-Beckert, this coating is called GEBEDUR.
