The 149X7 SES needle (needle system 149X7) has a small ball point for working knit fabrics, without damaging the loops. It is used in industrial chainstitch and general-purpose sewing machines for everyday garment and textile manufacturing. Suitable machine classes are found, among others, at Dürkopp Adler (classes 370, 934, 940, 961), Singer (classes 253, 261, 262, 263) and Juki (classes AMH, ASG, DU, LT).
In size NM:100/SIZE:16, this version is especially well suited to medium-weight knit fabrics for everyday garment production. A sewing thread in the range Nm 50/2 to Nm 40/2 is usually suitable, e.g. from Amann Serafil or Rasant; for very stretchy seams, a texturised thread also works well. The ball point glides between the loops instead of piercing them, keeping the seam clean and undamaged.
