The needle of system 216X1 has a round point and a right point groove for working woven and knit fabrics. It is used in industrial lockstitch and general-purpose sewing machines, here mainly for technical applications such as the leisure industry and home textiles rather than classic garment production. Suitable machine classes are found, among others, at Singer (classes 132, 133, 132 - K OTHER CLASS, 132 - KSV OTHER CLASS), Golden Wheel (classes CSL, CSL - 1800, CSL - 1801) and HASHIMA (classes HSQ, HSQ - 88 NC).
The available needle sizes are used, among others, for very heavy, multi-layer materials such as webbing, tarpaulins and upholstery composites. As sewing thread, a matching thickness is usually recommended depending on the needle size chosen, e.g. from Amann Serafil (polyester) or Rasant (polyester/cotton); for heavy-duty use, a bonded nylon thread.
