The 576 SES needle has a small ball point for working knit fabrics, without damaging the loops. This is a curved needle: it penetrates only the surface of the material and stays invisible on the right side of the fabric – the standard design for overlock, blind-stitch and linking (kettling) machines. It is used in industrial chain-stitch special-purpose machines with a curved needle, among others for overlock, blind-stitch and linking (kettling) work. Suitable machine classes are found, among others, at Willcox (classes 802 to 803, 810 to 813, 822 to 823, 1400), Dürkopp Adler (classes 911 to 914, 922, 923) and Pegasus (classes E 56).
In size NM:75/SIZE:11, this version is especially well suited to fine, light jersey and tricot fabrics. A sewing thread in the range Nm 80/2 to Nm 50/2 is usually suitable, e.g. from Amann Serafil or Rasant; for very stretchy seams, a texturised thread also works well. The ball point glides between the loops instead of piercing them, keeping the seam clean and undamaged.
