The needle of system 794 H FR has a normal round point for working woven and knit fabrics. It is used in industrial lockstitch and general-purpose sewing machines, here mainly for technical applications such as quilting rather than classic garment production. Suitable machine classes are found, among others, at Gribetz (classes DG, GI, MATTRESS MASTERS II, SERIE CHAIN STITCH QUILTERS), Altin (classes RN 820) and Meca (classes TARGET, TARGET ALL CLASSES).
Thinner needle sizes are used, among others, for heavy, multi-layer woven and knit fabrics as well as technical textiles, and the thicker versions for very heavy, multi-layer materials such as webbing, tarpaulins and upholstery composites. As sewing thread, a matching thickness is usually recommended depending on the needle size chosen, e.g. from Amann Serafil (polyester) or Rasant (polyester/cotton); for heavy-duty use, a bonded nylon thread.
