The B-29 SES needle (needle system B-29) has a small ball point for working knit fabrics, without damaging the loops. It is used in industrial overlock, coverstitch and safety-stitch machines for elastic knit fabrics. Suitable machine classes are found, among others, at Singer (classes 81, 85, 942, 81-10), Rimoldi (classes F 20, F 29, PL 29, 023) and China Feiyue Sewing Machinery Group (classes 529).
In size NM:70/SIZE:10, this version is especially well suited to fine, light jersey and tricot fabrics. A sewing thread in the range Nm 80/2 to Nm 50/2 is usually suitable, e.g. from Amann Serafil or Rasant; for very stretchy seams, a texturised thread also works well. The ball point glides between the loops instead of piercing them, keeping the seam clean and undamaged.
