The needle of system D-5 has a normal round point for working woven and knit fabrics. It is used in industrial chainstitch and general-purpose sewing machines, here mainly for technical applications such as the packaging industry rather than classic garment production. Suitable machine classes are found, among others, at Dave Fischbein Co. (classes D, DB, DH, DR), Fischbein (classes D, DB, DH, DR) and Consew (classes 10, 10 ALL CLASSES).
The available needle sizes are used, among others, for firm, dense materials in the packaging industry. As sewing thread, a matching thickness is usually recommended depending on the needle size chosen, e.g. from Amann Serafil (polyester) or Rasant (polyester/cotton); for heavy-duty use, a bonded nylon thread.
