The DCX3 SES needle (needle system DCX3) has a small ball point for working knit fabrics, without damaging the loops. It is used in industrial overlock, coverstitch and safety-stitch machines for elastic knit fabrics. Suitable machine classes are found, among others, at Juki (classes MO), Yamato (classes DCY, DCZ) and Brother (classes EF4). In size NM:65/SIZE:9, this version is especially well suited to fine, light jersey and tricot fabrics. A sewing thread in the range Nm 120/2 to Nm 80/2 (fine) is usually suitable, e.g. from Amann Serafil or Rasant; for very stretchy seams, a texturised thread also works well. Needles with a normal chrome coating can be recognized by their shiny silver surface. The chrome coating provides protection against wear and corrosion. The surface is smooth and protects the material and the thread. Chrome needles can be used for all standard applications. Compared to nickel-plated needles, chrome-plated needles improve the service life of the needle at higher stitch counts. At Groz-Beckert, the equivalent chrome coating is being gradually replaced by their more environmentally friendly "dur" process.
