Description
Reviews

The 130 MET needle is a special needle for household machines with the flat-shank system 130/705 H. Its eye is especially long compared with a universal or embroidery needle (2 mm at every needle size), making it particularly suitable for special and novelty threads, including metallic threads.

The long eye lets metallic sewing and embroidery threads glide through with ease, so they can be sewn gently without breaking. Foil-type decorative threads in particular benefit from this.

Thanks to its slightly rounded point, the metallic needle can be used without trouble on many types of fabric.

Ideal for decorative stitching with metallic threads, and also suitable for embroidery on embroidery machines.

Tips
With flat foil threads, unwind the thread sideways from the spool rather than over the top, so it doesn't twist and break.
To prevent thread breakage, it also helps to reduce the thread tension noticeably and sew more slowly than with normal sewing thread.
A longer stitch length shows off the shine of metallic threads better and also helps reduce thread breakage.

SCHMETZ CANU:	CANU 64:30 CANU is the abbreviation for "Catalog Number" and represents the system developed by the German needle manufacturer SCHMETZ and used worldwide today for the summary and identification of the same sewing machine needles, which have various designations specific to the sewing machine manufacturer (needle systems). CANU 64:25 CANU is the abbreviation for "Catalog Number" and represents the system developed by the German needle manufacturer SCHMETZ and used worldwide today for the summary and identification of the same sewing machine needles, which have various designations specific to the sewing machine manufacturer (needle systems).
NEEDLEPOINT:	R/SET - Round tip normal Tip with a pointed conical bevel. The normal round tip is the standard tip shape. With household needles this tip shape is used for the needles known as universal needles most of the time no top suffix «R» is used. Applications: - Lightweight fabric - Coated materials; heavy woven materials such as Tarpaulins - Laminated materials with soft plastic or thin cardboard (cardboard) - Foils - Leather/Textile combinations
COATING:	NICKEL or CHROME PLATED Until the end of 2020, the nickel-plated needle was the standard for household sewing machines. Since then, Schmetz has been gradually converting production to "chrome-plated", as has been standard for industrial needles for decades.
MATERIAL TYPE:	TISSUE Tissue is a textile fabric consisting of at least two thread systems, warp and weft, which cross each other at an angle of exactly or approximately 90° when viewed on the fabric surface. Each of the two systems can be made up of several types of warp or weft (e.g. basic, pile and filling warp / basic, binding and filling weft). The warp threads run in the longitudinal direction of the fabric, parallel to the edge of the fabric, and the weft threads run in the transverse direction, parallel to the edge of the fabric. The threads are mainly connected to the fabric by friction. In order for a fabric to be sufficiently non-slip, the warp and weft threads usually have to be woven relatively densely. That is why, with a few exceptions, the fabrics have a coherent appearance. To sew fabric, positive displacement needles are always used and never a cutting point. KNIT/MESH WEAR Knitwear refers to textiles in which a loop formed by a thread is looped into another loop. The resulting meshes can be formed using one thread or multiple threads. This distinguishes knitted goods from woven fabrics, in which the surface is produced by crossing two thread systems, and also from nonwovens, in which a loose fibrous web is bonded, for example by heat. Compared to woven fabrics, knitted fabrics are characterized by higher stretchability, elasticity and, as a result, less creasing. When it comes to knitwear, a distinction is made between knitwear and warp-knitted fabrics. Knitwear is produced using single-thread technology (knitted fabrics and warp-knitted fabrics) or warp-thread technology (multi-threaded warp-knitted fabrics and warp-knitted fabrics). To sew knitwear, needles with displacement points are always used and never a cutting point.
MATERIAL:	effect threads Effect threads have pronounced areas of uneven appearance on their surface, which create decorative effects on the fabric or knitwear. These effects can be achieved on the thread during spinning, twisting, dyeing, printing, or through combinations thereof. The most commonly used effect yarns or twist yarns include: bouclé yarns and lurex (tinsel) threads. metal wire Effect twist yarn in which a yarn is twisted together with a metallic-looking or actual metal effect thread.
PROCESSING:	Sew effect threads Particularly suitable for sewing effect threads
