The needle of system 573 N has an acute round point for working woven and knit fabrics. This needle system belongs to the fur and glove sewing machine needles and is specialised for processing furs, pelts, leather and glove materials. It is used in industrial chainstitch and general-purpose sewing machines for everyday garment and textile manufacturing. Suitable machine classes are found, among others, at Porkert (classes 71, DEWITTA KL 70/3, LUDWIG KL B, PRIMUS KL 72/3), Singer (classes 94, 94 ALL CLASSES) and Textima (classes LUDWIG B). The available needle sizes are used, among others, for furs, pelts and glove leather. As sewing thread, a matching thickness is usually recommended depending on the needle size chosen, e.g. from Amann Serafil (polyester) or Rasant (polyester/cotton).
CANU is the abbreviation for "Catalog Number" and represents the system developed by the German needle manufacturer SCHMETZ and used worldwide today for the summary and identification of the same sewing machine needles, which have various designations specific to the sewing machine manufacturer (needle systems).

Needles with a normal chrome coating can be recognized by their shiny silver surface. The chrome coating provides protection against wear and corrosion. The surface is smooth and protects the material and the thread. Chrome needles can be used for all standard applications. Compared to nickel-plated needles, chrome-plated needles improve the service life of the needle at higher stitch counts. At Groz-Beckert, the equivalent chrome coating is being gradually replaced by their more environmentally friendly "dur" process.
