The 1807/2 OA needle (needle system 1807/2) has an eccentric round point toward the long groove for working woven and knit fabrics. It is used in industrial chainstitch and general-purpose sewing machines. The available needle sizes are used, among others, for light, fine woven and knit fabrics such as blouse and shirt fabrics. As sewing thread, a matching thickness is usually recommended depending on the needle size chosen, e.g. from Amann Serafil (polyester) or Rasant (polyester/cotton).
CANU is the abbreviation for "Catalog Number" and represents the system developed by the German needle manufacturer SCHMETZ and used worldwide today for the summary and identification of the same sewing machine needles, which have various designations specific to the sewing machine manufacturer (needle systems).
Until the end of 2020, the nickel-plated needle was the standard for household sewing machines. Since then, Schmetz has been gradually converting production to "chrome-plated", as has been standard for industrial needles for decades.
