The 29-BD needle (needle system 1717 TP) has an eccentric round point (tip above the eye) for working woven and knit fabrics. This is a curved needle: it penetrates only the surface of the material and stays invisible on the right side of the fabric – the standard design for overlock, blind-stitch and linking (kettling) machines. It is used in industrial chain-stitch special-purpose machines with a curved needle, among others for overlock, blind-stitch and linking (kettling) work. Suitable machine classes are found, among others, at Lewis (classes 16, 17, 24, 43), Union Special (classes 16 100, 16 100 H, 160 20) and Maier (classes 510, 660).
In size NM:110/SIZE:18, this version is especially well suited to heavy, multi-layer woven and knit fabrics as well as technical textiles. A sewing thread in the range Nm 50/2 to Nm 40/2 is usually suitable, e.g. from Amann Serafil (polyester) or Rasant (polyester/cotton).
