The 1807 (D) SES needle (needle system 501) has a small ball point for working knit fabrics, without damaging the loops. It is used in industrial lockstitch and general-purpose sewing machines for everyday garment and textile manufacturing. Suitable machine classes are found, among others, at Global (classes BH 758, BH 759, BH 778, BH 779), AMF-Reece (classes 101, 103, 104 AF, S) and Reece (classes 101 ALL CLASSES, 103 ALL CLASSES, 104 AF, S - 100).
In size NM:130/SIZE:21, this version is especially well suited to heavy, dense knit fabrics and technical knits. A sewing thread in the range Nm 40/2 to Nm 20/2 is usually suitable, e.g. from Amann Serafil or Rasant; for very stretchy seams, a texturised thread also works well. The ball point glides between the loops instead of piercing them, keeping the seam clean and undamaged.
