The 190 (R) needle (needle system 190) has a normal round point for working woven and knit fabrics. It is used in industrial lockstitch and general-purpose sewing machines, here mainly for technical applications such as lifting, lashing and safety belts and the fishing industry rather than classic garment production. Suitable machine classes are found, among others, at Pfaff (classes 28, 143, 190, 343), Dürkopp Adler (classes 067, 068, 211, 247) and Juki (classes APW, DLN, LH, LS).
The available needle sizes are used, among others, for very heavy, multi-layer materials such as webbing, tarpaulins and upholstery composites. As sewing thread, a matching thickness is usually recommended depending on the needle size chosen, e.g. from Amann Serafil (polyester) or Rasant (polyester/cotton); for heavy-duty use, a bonded nylon thread.
