The needle of system 62X59 has a normal round point for working woven and knit fabrics. It is used in industrial chainstitch and general-purpose sewing machines, here mainly for technical applications such as vehicle interiors, the upholstery industry and footwear rather than classic garment production. Suitable machine classes are found, among others, at Consew (classes 301, 302, 303, 304), Singer (classes 300, 320, 300 - U 103, 300 - U 194) and Seiko (classes DL, DN, LD, SSLD).
Thinner needle sizes are used, among others, for light, fine woven and knit fabrics such as blouse and shirt fabrics, and the thicker versions for heavy, multi-layer woven and knit fabrics as well as technical textiles. As sewing thread, a matching thickness is usually recommended depending on the needle size chosen, e.g. from Amann Serafil or Rasant (polyester).
This needle also features a titanium nitride (TN) coating: it improves the needle's service life at higher stitch counts and reduces needle smearing. At Groz-Beckert, this coating is called GEBEDUR.
