The Groz-Beckert needle 8199 MR is a straight needle with one long groove. Its normal round point displaces the material gently. Version: MR for multidirectional sewing applications. Application: quilting (stitch type class 300). Recommended for woven fabrics, e.g. for mattresses and blankets.

The available needle sizes are used, among others, for heavy, multi-layer woven and knit fabrics as well as technical textiles. As sewing thread, a matching thickness is usually recommended depending on the needle size chosen, e.g. from Amann Serafil (polyester) or Rasant (polyester/cotton).

Item information	Value
COATING:	CHROME / DUR Needles with a normal chrome coating can be recognized by their shiny silver surface. The chrome coating provides protection against wear and corrosion. The surface is smooth and protects the material and the thread. Chrome needles can be used for all standard applications. Compared to nickel-plated needles, chrome-plated needles improve the service life of the needle at higher stitch counts. At GROTZ-BECKERT, the comparable chrome coating is being gradually replaced by the more environmentally friendly “DUR” process. The technology used to apply this DUR chrome coating has undergone a fundamental overhaul. The new process is significantly more environmentally friendly and conserves resources. The dur™ technology provides even better wear protection—especially directly at the needle tip—as well as optimized sliding properties. Compared to conventionally chrome-plated needles, the DUR-coated needles appear slightly more matte (particularly visible on the needle piston).
TOTAL LENGTH:	63.3 mm
PISTON-Ø:	2.0 mm
LENGTH to the EYE:	57.4 mm
NEEDLE SYSTEM:	8199.0
SPECIAL:	MR Applications: - Sewing machines with continuous transport - Multidirectional seams - Large clearance in the hollow groove area for the looper to catch the needle thread loop, thus avoiding skipped stitches even with critical sewing material. - Optimal thread protection and functional thread guidance due to a consistently deep, long groove, resulting in less twisting of the sewing thread and a better seam appearance. - Increased bending stiffness of the needle due to the identical cross-section of the shaft and hollow groove areas leads to fewer needle breakages. - Extremely long and deep hollow groove. - The long groove runs at full depth over the entire length right into the eye. - The hollow groove area has the same needle cross-section as the upper shaft area.
NEEDLEPOINT:	R/SET - Round tip normal Tip with a pointed conical bevel. The normal round tip is the standard tip shape. With household needles this tip shape is used for the needles known as universal needles most of the time no top suffix «R» is used. Applications: - Lightweight fabric - Coated materials; heavy woven materials such as Tarpaulins - Laminated materials with soft plastic or thin cardboard (cardboard) - Foils - Leather/Textile combinations
