The DBXK5 SKF needle (needle system DBXK5) has a large ball point for working knit fabrics, without damaging the loops. It is used in industrial embroidery machines. Suitable machine classes are found, among others, at Brother (classes BAS, BAS -401, BAS -410, BAS -411), Tajima (classes MLHII, TEHX, TEJT, TFGN) and ZSK (classes 169, 172 to 175, 201 to 224, J).
Thinner needle sizes are used, among others, for standard embroidery on medium-weight fabrics, and the thicker versions for dense embroidery on heavy fabrics such as denim, terry cloth or caps. As embroidery thread, a size No. 60 to No. 30 thread matching the needle size chosen is usually recommended, e.g. Amann Isacord. The ball point glides between the loops instead of piercing them, keeping the seam clean and undamaged.
