The DBXK5 SPI needle (needle system DBXK5) has an acute round point for working woven and knit fabrics. It is used in industrial lockstitch and general-purpose sewing machines for everyday garment and textile manufacturing. Suitable machine classes are found, among others, at Brother (classes BAS, BAS -401, BAS -410, BAS -411), Tajima (classes MLHII, TEHX, TEJT, TFGN) and ZSK (classes 169, 172 bis 175, 201 bis 224, J).
Thinner needle sizes are used, among others, for light, fine woven and knit fabrics such as blouse and shirt fabrics, and the thicker versions for heavy, multi-layer woven and knit fabrics as well as technical textiles. As sewing thread, a matching thickness is usually recommended depending on the needle size chosen, e.g. from Amann Serafil or Rasant (polyester).
