K / KSI (Short point)
K and KSI essentially mean the same thing and describe the length of the needle cone (the actual tip of the needle). K generally stands for a shortened needle tip (e.g., in systems such as 134 K). KSI is the manufacturer-specific designation (often used in parallel) for a short tip.
The purpose: A short tip penetrates the material more quickly with its full diameter. This ensures greater needle stability when working with extremely hard or tightly woven materials (such as technical textiles, tarps, or heavy sacks) and prevents the needle from bending or being deflected during penetration.
