Description

CANU 20:05MA17 The 134 SPI needle (needle system 134) has an acute round point for working woven and knit fabrics. In the SERV 7 version, it also offers increased needle stability for secure seams. It is used in industrial lockstitch and general-purpose sewing machines for everyday garment and textile manufacturing. Suitable machine classes are found, among others, at Pfaff (classes 22, 28, 33905, 34), Juki (classes ACB, ACF, AEC, ALS) and Singer (classes 20, 61, 107, 108).

Thinner needle sizes are used, among others, for light, fine woven and knit fabrics such as blouse and shirt fabrics, and the thicker versions for heavy, multi-layer woven and knit fabrics as well as technical textiles. As sewing thread, a matching thickness is usually recommended depending on the needle size chosen, e.g. from Amann Serafil (polyester) or Rasant (polyester/cotton).

Item information	Value
SCHMETZ CANU:	CANU 20:05 CANU is the abbreviation for "Catalog Number" and represents the system developed by the German needle manufacturer SCHMETZ and used worldwide today for the summary and identification of the same sewing machine needles, which have various designations specific to the sewing machine manufacturer (needle systems).
STITCH TYPE:	Lockstitch
NEEDLE FAMILY:	Single-groove sewing machine needles for textiles
NEEDLEPOINT:	SPI/S SET - Round point pointed Needle with a very slim, pointed tip. Enables precise piercing of tightly woven and coated materials. Produces a clean, flawless seam appearance and minimizes seam puckering. Applications: - Very densely woven material such as microfibre and silk - Thin, coated materials - Thin, smooth materials such as e.g. Taffeta - quilting seams for shirt processing (shirt collar, cuffs, front strips) - elastomer threads not braided - manufacture of furs and skins
COATING:	CHROME Needles with a normal chrome coating can be recognized by their shiny silver surface. The chrome coating provides protection against wear and corrosion. The surface is smooth and protects the material and the thread. Chrome needles can be used for all standard applications. Compared to nickel-plated needles, chrome-plated needles improve the service life of the needle at higher stitch counts. At Groz-Beckert, the equivalent chrome coating is being gradually replaced by their more environmentally friendly "dur" process.
PISTON-Ø:	2.0 mm
LENGTH to the EYE:	33.9 mm
TOTAL LENGTH:	37.9 - 38.7 mm
SPECIAL:	KK Short Piston The shorter piston of the KK variant is used in industrial sewing machines (often overlock, coverstitch, or specialized leather and buttonhole machines) where space on the needle bar is very limited. The shortened piston end allows for additional fabric thickness during the stroke in some machine classes. Since the distance from the piston end to the needle eye is identical in both variants, a 134 KK can be used in many standard machines instead of a regular 134. However, it usually doesn’t work the other way around! SERV 7 Deep special scarf and reinforced shaft for increased needle stability and secure seams.
