Quilting
(English to quilt)
A blanket made using the patchwork technique, sometimes decorated with appliqués; together with a simple under-blanket and a flat filling, it forms the bed cover (quilt). The quilt was "invented" by the Mennonites who emigrated from England to America around 1727, whom the English colonial rulers had forbidden to weave fabrics.
Today, beautiful quilts are sought-after collector's items, and quilting is especially widespread in the USA.
