CANU 38:00EB1 The Groz-Beckert needle UY 128 SAN 10, also known as UYX128 SAN 10, TVX3 KN J and UY 128 GJS, is a straight needle with two long grooves and a scarf. Its light ball point (FFG) displaces the material gently. Version: SAN™ 10 for sewing fine knitted and woven fabrics. Application: double chainstitch and coverstitch (stitch type class 400 / 600). Recommended for fine knitted and woven fabrics that are delicate or critical to sew, e.g. for underwear, T-shirts, shirts, blouses and swimwear. It fits, among others, machine classes from Kingtex (classes CT, CTL, CTS, FT), Yamato (classes ACW, AFH, AHV, ARW) and Union Special (classes HF, LF, XF, 11500 G).

Thinner needle sizes are used, among others, for fine, light jersey and tricot fabrics, and the thicker versions for heavy, dense knit fabrics and technical knits. As sewing thread, a matching thickness is usually recommended depending on the needle size chosen, e.g. from Amann Serafil or Rasant; for very stretchy seams, a texturised thread also works well. The ball point glides between the loops instead of piercing them, keeping the seam clean and undamaged.

SCHMETZ CANU:	CANU 38:00 CANU is the abbreviation for "Catalog Number" and represents the system developed by the German needle manufacturer SCHMETZ and used worldwide today for the summary and identification of the same sewing machine needles, which have various designations specific to the sewing machine manufacturer (needle systems).

COATING:	CHROME / DUR Needles with a normal chrome coating can be recognized by their shiny silver surface. The chrome coating provides protection against wear and corrosion. The surface is smooth and protects the material and the thread. Chrome needles can be used for all standard applications. Compared to nickel-plated needles, chrome-plated needles improve the service life of the needle at higher stitch counts. At GROTZ-BECKERT, the comparable chrome coating is being gradually replaced by the more environmentally friendly “DUR” process. The technology used to apply this DUR chrome coating has undergone a fundamental overhaul. The new process is significantly more environmentally friendly and conserves resources. The dur™ technology provides even better wear protection—especially directly at the needle tip—as well as optimized sliding properties. Compared to conventionally chrome-plated needles, the DUR-coated needles appear slightly more matte (particularly visible on the needle piston).
NEEDLEPOINT:	SES/L BALL/FFG/J Ball/SIN/NYR/BPL - Ball point small The small ball point displaces fabric and stitch catching; den, pierces directly into the gaps and thus avoids material damage. Applications: - Fine to medium knitwear - Light denim materials - Light, densely woven materials - Medium to heavy fabric - Laminated materials (textile/textile) Highlight: strong> Particularly suitable for jerseys and tricots.
SPECIAL:	SAN 10 Special application needle SAN 10 by Groz-Beckert for fine and delicate textiles. Its slim shape in the eye area displaces less material while the blade stays stable. Applications: - Underwear and lingerie - Sportswear - Fine knitted and woven fabrics Features: - Less mesh damage and seam puckering - Fewer skipped stitches and thread breaks - Sufficient stability against needle breakage - Thicker threads possible at the same needle size
MATERIAL TYPE:	TISSUE Tissue is a textile fabric consisting of at least two thread systems, warp and weft, which cross each other at an angle of exactly or approximately 90° when viewed on the fabric surface. Each of the two systems can be made up of several types of warp or weft (e.g. basic, pile and filling warp / basic, binding and filling weft). The warp threads run in the longitudinal direction of the fabric, parallel to the edge of the fabric, and the weft threads run in the transverse direction, parallel to the edge of the fabric. The threads are mainly connected to the fabric by friction. In order for a fabric to be sufficiently non-slip, the warp and weft threads usually have to be woven relatively densely. That is why, with a few exceptions, the fabrics have a coherent appearance. To sew fabric, positive displacement needles are always used and never a cutting point. KNIT/MESH WEAR Knitwear refers to textiles in which a loop formed by a thread is looped into another loop. The resulting meshes can be formed using one thread or multiple threads. This distinguishes knitted goods from woven fabrics, in which the surface is produced by crossing two thread systems, and also from nonwovens, in which a loose fibrous web is bonded, for example by heat. Compared to woven fabrics, knitted fabrics are characterized by higher stretchability, elasticity and, as a result, less creasing. When it comes to knitwear, a distinction is made between knitwear and warp-knitted fabrics. Knitwear is produced using single-thread technology (knitted fabrics and warp-knitted fabrics) or warp-thread technology (multi-threaded warp-knitted fabrics and warp-knitted fabrics). To sew knitwear, needles with displacement points are always used and never a cutting point.
