(Taffeta: Persian tafteh = woven)
Plain (taffeta) weave fabric made of silk or man-made fibers with a dense warp setting, which creates fine cross ribs. In silk taffeta, the warp consists of organzine, the weft of tram. Among the many types of taffeta, the following may be mentioned:
- Taffeta broché, with embroidery-like figures
- Taffeta changeant, warp and weft shimmering in different colors
- Taffeta chiffon, light quality
- Taffeta chiné, with printed warp
- Taffeta écossais, large check
