Curved (overlock, blind stitch, kettling)
Curved needles, apart from a few special cases (such as looper/linking needles), come in two main groups:
1. the slightly curved overlock needles
2. the strongly curved blindstitch needles.
In the overlock field, there is now almost only one standard system B-27 (DCX27 as well as old designations such as MY 1023 and UY 191 GS).
This straight needle is manufactured by Schmetz in the SERV 7 design as standard (deep special hollow groove, reinforced shaft), since very high sewing speeds (up to 8,000 stitches/min) are used, requiring a very stable needle. Curved overlock needles are still very rarely used in the hosiery industry.
