The needle of system UY 108 N CR has an extra-narrow spade point for working leather, synthetic leather and other coated materials – never for woven fabric, since the cutting action would sever the weave threads. It is used in industrial sewing machines for leather and synthetic-leather work, where the cutting point produces a clean puncture. Suitable machine classes are found, among others, at Union Special (classes HF, 35700, 39500 VPB, 39500 VPL), Conti Complett (classes 250, 260 OV "L" LIGHT FABRIC, 260 OV L LIGHT FABRIC) and Singer (classes 698, 698 - B). In size NM:90/SIZE:14, this version is especially well suited to thinner to medium-weight leather. A sewing thread in the range Nm 80/2 to Nm 50/2 is usually suitable; a bonded polyester or nylon thread such as Amann Serabond, Amann Strongbond or Coats Dabond is recommended. A cutting point is required here to create clean puncture channels in firm materials.Package contents: pack BR10 with 10 needles
CANU is the abbreviation for "Catalog Number" and represents the system developed by the German needle manufacturer SCHMETZ and used worldwide today for the summary and identification of the same sewing machine needles, which have various designations specific to the sewing machine manufacturer (needle systems).

Needles with a normal chrome coating can be recognized by their shiny silver surface. The chrome coating provides protection against wear and corrosion. The surface is smooth and protects the material and the thread. Chrome needles can be used for all standard applications. Compared to nickel-plated needles, chrome-plated needles improve the service life of the needle at higher stitch counts. At Groz-Beckert, the equivalent chrome coating is being gradually replaced by their more environmentally friendly "dur" process.
