The needle of system 134-35 has a round point with small triangular cutting edge for working leather, synthetic leather and other coated materials – never for woven fabric, since the cutting action would sever the weave threads. In the SERV 7 version, it also offers increased needle stability for secure seams. It is used in industrial sewing machines for leather and synthetic-leather work, where the cutting point produces a clean puncture. Suitable machine classes are found, among others, at Dürkopp Adler (classes 067, 069, 098, 167), Pfaff (classes 34 BIS 1967, 34, 35, 36 bis 38) and Rimoldi (classes 229 ALL CLASSES, 421 OTHER CLASS, 530 ALL CLASSES, 840 - 104).
At strength NM:110/SIZE:18, this version is especially well suited to medium-weight leather for everyday leather goods and saddlery work. A sewing thread in the range Nm 50/2 to Nm 40/2 is usually suitable; a bonded polyester or nylon thread such as Amann Saba or Coats Dabond is recommended. A cutting point is required here to create clean puncture channels in firm materials.
