The needle of system 134-35 has a small ball point for working knit fabrics, without damaging the stitches. In the SERV 7 version, it also offers increased needle stability for secure seams. It is used in industrial overlock, coverstitch and safety-stitch machines for elastic knit fabrics. Suitable machine classes are found, among others, at Dürkopp Adler (classes 067, 069, 098, 167), Pfaff (classes 34 BIS 1967, 34, 35, 36 bis 38) and Rimoldi (classes 229 ALL CLASSES, 421 OTHER CLASS, 530 ALL CLASSES, 840 - 104).
At strength NM:130/SIZE:21, this version is especially well suited to medium-weight knit fabrics for everyday garment production. A sewing thread in the range Nm 40/2 to Nm 20/2 is usually suitable, e.g. from Amann Serafil or Rasant; for very stretchy seams, a texturised thread also works well. The ball point glides between the loops instead of piercing them, keeping the seam clean and undamaged.
