The needle of system 500 has a normal round point for working woven and knit fabrics. It is used in industrial lockstitch and general-purpose sewing machines. Suitable machine classes are found, among others, at Gebr. Dohle (classes 621 to 622, 651 to 652, 714 to 717, 720), Dohle (classes 621 TO 622, 651 TO 652, 714 TO 717, 720) and Textima (classes 8920 to 8623, 8922, 8920 TO 8623, 8922 ALL CLASSES).
Thinner needle sizes are used, among others, for heavy, multi-layer woven and knit fabrics as well as technical textiles, and the thicker versions for very heavy, multi-layer materials such as webbing, tarpaulins and upholstery composites. As sewing thread, a matching thickness is usually recommended depending on the needle size chosen, e.g. from Amann Serafil (polyester) or Rasant (polyester/cotton); for heavy-duty use, a bonded nylon thread.
