Sewing machine needle 780 C DH TEST NM:160/SIZE:23 (10 needles)
The 780 C DH TEST needle (needle system 780) has a half triangular point for working leather, synthetic leather and other coated materials – never for woven fabric, since the cutting action would sever the weave threads. It is used in industrial sewing machines for leather and synthetic-leather work, where the cutting point produces a clean puncture. The available needle sizes are used, among others, for very thick, firm leather and multi-layer leather joins. As sewing thread, a bonded polyester or nylon thread such as Amann Serabond, Amann Strongbond or Coats Dabond is usually recommended, in a thickness matching the needle size chosen. A cutting point is required here to create clean puncture channels in firm materials.
CANU is the abbreviation for "Catalog Number" and represents the system developed by the German needle manufacturer SCHMETZ and used worldwide today for the summary and identification of the same sewing machine needles, which have various designations specific to the sewing machine manufacturer (needle systems).

Until the end of 2020, the nickel-plated needle was the standard for household sewing machines. Since then, Schmetz has been gradually converting production to "chrome-plated", as has been standard for industrial needles for decades.
