Seersucker
(Persian: shirushakar = milk and sugar)
Originally a light-blue/white striped cotton fabric. Today the term refers to a crepe (puckered) effect, produced by the fabric construction (differently tensioned warp threads or the use of yarns that shrink to different degrees), by embossing, or by chemicals (e.g. caustic soda).
Seersucker is also available as a knitted fabric.
