The needle of system 130/705 H has a wedge point (pearl point) for working coated and synthetic materials as well as synthetic leather. It is used in industrial sewing machines for coated and synthetic materials, where a cutting point would damage the coating. Suitable machine classes are found, among others, at Tsang Yu Industrial (classes MK, 3000), Jaguar International (classes 100, 313, 970, 979) and Fappyco (classes 714, 734).

Thinner needle sizes are used, among others, for thinner films and light synthetic leather, and the thicker versions for thicker, multi-layer synthetic leather and heavy PVC coatings. As sewing thread, a matching thickness is usually recommended depending on the needle size chosen, e.g. from Amann Rasant or Serafil (polyester); for heavy-duty use, a bonded nylon thread. The wedge point displaces the material's fibres instead of cutting them, protecting the coating.

SCHMETZ CANU:	CANU 22:15 CANU is the abbreviation for "Catalog Number" and represents the system developed by the German needle manufacturer SCHMETZ and used worldwide today for the summary and identification of the same sewing machine needles, which have various designations specific to the sewing machine manufacturer (needle systems).
NEEDLEPOINT:	P/PS/NW/PCL/PCR - pearl tip Wide Cutting point with a lenticular incision. The incision is made across the direction of the seam. Result: Seam with high strength Materials: Suitable for all types of leather Applications: - Shoe manufacture - Bags, suitcases, accessories Highlight: The SCHMETZ cordage ensures that the thread is laid out of the sewing material in the laterally tapering tip groove when the needle is lifted upwards, so that it is no longer pulled over the edge of the groove, eye edge or cutting edge and is not damaged . «CL»: Tip groove tapering to the left for hooks positioned to the right of the needle. «CR»: Point groove tapering to the right for hooks positioned to the left of the needle. It is used in particular as a left needle in a two-needle machine.
COATING:	NICKEL or CHROME PLATED Until the end of 2020, the nickel-plated needle was the standard for household sewing machines. Since then, Schmetz has been gradually converting production to "chrome-plated", as has been standard for industrial needles for decades.
MATERIAL TYPE:	LEATHER, TARPS & FOILS Leather, imitation leather, tarps and foils are closed textiles that have to be ""pierced"" for sewing. This is why needles with cutting tips are usually used for this. Cutting tips penetrate the material much more easily than displacement tips and thus counteract resistance and heating. Cutting points should never be used on woven and knitted fabrics, otherwise the threads can be cut, causing holes.
