twill
(English twill, French Croisé or Serge)
Fabric in twill weave with diagonal weave stripes, to which, in warp twill, the warp threads contribute more, and in weft twill, the weft threads contribute more.
Depending on the twill construction, a distinction is made:
Warp twill: On the face of the fabric there are more warp threads than weft threads, e.g. K 2/1Z, 20-0201-01-01
Weft twill: On the face of the fabric there are more weft threads than warp threads, e.g. K1/2Z, 20-0102-01-01
Broken (wide) twill: The twill weave forms a wide diagonal (more warp risers than warp sinkers and vice versa), e.g. K3/1Z, 20-0301-01-01
Even (regular) twill: In forming the diagonal, the warp risers and warp sinkers are balanced, e.g. K2/2Z, 20-0202-01-01
Multi-line twill: Several diagonal lines occur within one weave repeat, e.g. 20-03010102-01-01
