The needle of system 1000 has an acute round point for working woven and knit fabrics. It is used in industrial lockstitch and general-purpose sewing machines, here mainly for technical applications such as the buffing-wheel industry and the packaging industry rather than classic garment production. Suitable machine classes are found, among others, at Dürkopp Adler (classes 020, 120, 020 - 17-B, 120 - 17 B TO 17 B-S), Keestar (classes 733, KES Series) and Seiko (classes SAM, SLH, SAM - 20, SLH - 2).
The available needle sizes are used, among others, for very heavy, multi-layer materials such as webbing, tarpaulins and upholstery composites. As sewing thread, a matching thickness is usually recommended depending on the needle size chosen, e.g. from Amann Serafil (polyester) or Rasant (polyester/cotton); for heavy-duty use, a bonded nylon thread.
